Here's a history of the one of the most successful, but short-lived railroads to serve the Cripple Creek and Victor Gold Mining District. The Florence and Cripple Creek Railroad was the first RR to reach the district. It opened up Cripple and Victor to the world.

The Skelton Ranch was perhaps one of the first "dude" ranches in Colorado, operating from 1905 - 1916 about 3.5 miles west of Woodland Park.
- February 2011 - Pinnacle Park, it's time to save it.
In 1900 there was an amusement park and zoo in a little town called Cameron on the northern outskirts of the Cripple Creek and Victor Gold Mining District. Pinnacle Park is gone but what remains can be saved.
- December 2010 - Fire in the Gold Camps
In 1896 and 1899 both Cripple and Victor burned, causing a rebuilding that changed the face of both towns in the World's Greatest Gold Camp.

Besides Cripple Creek and Victor - the greatest gold camp on earth, there was lots of mining activity elsewhere in Teller County in the 1890s around Woodland Park.
